Stephenie Meyer Talks Breaking Dawn

January - 12 - 2010 Comments

Stephenie Meyer, the author of the Twilight Saga, mother of a million obsessions is speaking…and we must listen. It has been since 2008 when Stephenie last made a public statement. What has made Ms. Meyer reach out publicly? Apparently a certain rumor about the “Breaking Dawn” movie-to-be is what it took.

For some reason, this particular rumor that she and Summit were having creative differences over whether “Breaking Dawn” should be one movie or two stuck out and she chose to refute it on her website.

011210_stephenieJust a quick note on the subject of the Breaking Dawn film: there is no drama over whether the book should be one movie or two. My personal feeling is that it would be very difficult to cram the whole story into one movie (as I’ve said in many interviews previous to this), but if a great way of doing that surfaces, I’m all for it. Two or one, whichever way fits the story best is fine by me, and everyone I’ve spoken with at Summit seems to feel the same way. We’re all excited to move forward on this, and we are slowly and surely getting there. I know people are anxious for news, and so sometimes gossip get fabricated to stir things up, but there’s no basis to this particular story.

Steph

There have been lots of “Breaking Dawn” rumors circulating in the past year; pretty much since the idea the film could be split first popped up on the Internet. It seems strange that this should be the story Stephenie chose to respond to. Maybe it hit too close to home, or maybe she just didn’t like being called out. Either way, the entire full circle story seems a bit pointless as we still have learned nothing new about the film. Maybe the next time you come out of your Arizonian cave, SM, you can give us the smallest tidbit of new news?

Taylor and Kellan at the People’s Choice

January - 7 - 2010 Comments

It was Twilight and Taylor Launter’s night at the People’s Choice Award! Here’s a recap of his epiphanic evening:

tayloraward-gettyMidway through the telecast, Latifah strolled through the audience, stopping at 17-year-old Taylor Lautner’s seat to ask for a photo. “You look so different with clothes on,” Latifah observed. George Lopez, a presenter and Lautner’s co-star in “The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3-D,” also got in on the act. “Dude, you’re my screen saver. I love you so much,” he joked. “I’m wearing ‘New Moon’ chones [Spanish for underwear].”

But Latifah didn’t stop there with her “Twilight” teasing. In one of the night’s digital shorts, the host donned a brunette wig to play Bella Swan in a spoof of “New Moon.” Latifah was super-imposed into the “Twilight” sequel during the forest scene, in which Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) dumps Bella (Kristen Stewart). When Edward finally abandoned Bella (Latifah) in the woods, she simply responded, “Fine, disappear. I’ll get the werewolf to do the show.”

As it turns out, werewolf Lautner was the winningest “Twilight” star, taking home both Favorite On-Screen Team (with co-stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson), as well as Favorite Breakout Movie Actor, beating Sam Worthington, Chris Pine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zachary Quinto. Lautner received a standing ovation from much of the Nokia Theatre audience, including ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift.

“Wow,” he said with a laugh, accepting the statuette. “Thank you. Thank you so much. This really means a lot to me. This is my first People’s Choice, and it wouldn’t have happened without you guys, the people. So thank you so much. You’ve done so much for me. I can’t thank you enough. Thank you to the cast, as well, and the crew and Summit Entertainment. But most of all, you guys. Thank you.

Here’s a few more photos from the evening, including Kellan Lutz representing the “Twilight: New Moon” on the red carpet!

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were no-shows at the People’s Choice Award…why-come? Kinda disappointed in you both considering this is the ‘peoples’ award. Oh well, make it up to us will ya? Did Kristen and Rob ditch because they knew they didn’t win their solo category? hmmm.

Jackson Rathbone’s Eclipse Script Oops

January - 6 - 2010 Comments
Getty

If you’re wearing a Team Edward or Team Jacob T-shirt, this is probably old news, but a 112-page screenplay for “Eclipse” — the third installment of the Twilight franchise — has been leaked to the internet. The script, which is dated July 2009, is reportedly an early draft and not the shooting copy, and is attributed to actor Jackson Rathbone, who plays the vampire Jasper Hale (thanks, water-marked scripts!). Though the plot should come as no surprise to any of the franchise’s fan, most Twi-hards are actively avoiding taking a peak, sounding off on message boards and Twitter about how Summit Entertainment has been good to the fans and debating whether they really want to know all the details.

Rathbone shouldn’t feel too bad. Last year, a copy of the “New Moon” script was found in a garbage can in the lobby of co-star Anna Kendrick’s hotel in St. Louis, where she was shooting “Up in the Air.” Last we heard, she hasn’t been replaced by another actor.

I decided not to read the leaked script, but I’m offering it for those that are interested.  You have been warned, for there will be spoilers :)

IF YOU WANT TO SNEAK A PEAK HERE’S A LINK TO THE SCRIPT: http://www.mediafire.com/?dzlzyd34dom.

Taylor Lautner and Anna Kendrick in Top Ten

January - 2 - 2010 Comments

Moviefone announced their Top Ten Breakout Stars of 2009 early December.  Twilight represents with TWO Breakout Stars.  Taylor Lautner ranks #1 and Anna Kendrick is a not too shabby #7.  This is some pretty decent rankage considering there are a bazillion Actors who are trying to breakout.  So how does this whole selection and ranking process work?

The equation for breakthrough star is quite simple: one part charisma, two parts talent and just a whole lot of luck. (Well, our formula might not be precise but you get the picture.) And the breakout performer must connect with an audience with a role that leaps off the screen.

2009 was a great year for breakout stars; here’s our list of actors for whom 2009 will be just the beginning of a long, fruitful career.

7. Anna Kendrick
Anna Kendrick has a lot going for her. She co-stars in that hit film series ’Twilight,’ and just snagged a National Board of Review prize for her naively overconfident, quick-witted turn as a newbie firing-agent in Jason Reitman’s ’Up in the Air.’ At only 24, Kendrick has proved to be a mighty talent in both comedy and drama, garnering a heap of Oscar buzz going toe-to-toe with George Clooney in ‘Air.’
Next Up: Edgar Wright’s ’Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’and, of course, reprising her role as Jessica in ’The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

1. Taylor Lautner
Royally buffing up as the shapeshifting werewolf Jacob Black in the sequel ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon,’ Taylor Lautner redefines teenage hunk in his breakout role. Graduating from Bella’s long-haired admirer in the first film, Lautner is able to flex his muscles, quite literally, with a much larger, brooding part in the second vampire flick. There is a reason why Taylor beat out the rest of the notable names on this list for the top spot: sheer box office brawn. The Twihards have spoken: Team Jacob all the way — well, for now at least.
Next Up: Reprising his role as Jacob Black in ’The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.’

All I Want is the Eclipse Trailer

December - 24 - 2009 Comments

…but I won’t hold my breath! There has been a lot of talk lately about the “Twilight: Eclipse” trailer being unveiled at the Academy Awards ceremony in March 2010. Nothing however has been confirmed.

David Slade, “Eclipse” Director,  is squashing rumors about potential trailer release dates via Twitter, either David knows and won’t tell or he really doesn’t know…either way, we can’t wait. Here is what DSlade has tweeted.

eclipseposter“Overwhelming question I see again and again – When is the first trailer for Eclipse? I really don’t know I am afraid.

I know they are working very hard on it. But I don’t have any idea when it will be out.”

Aw shucks, David.

At any rate, you also might be seeing a lot of “first of” headlines surrounding the first The Twilight Saga: Eclipse still frame image.

To answer a few of your questions, yes this picture did first make an appearance in the pre-The Twilight Saga: New Moon special edition of People Magazine.

It’s been floating around for quite some time.

What is (sort of) new is the synopsis issued for the film:

* June 30, 2010
* Action/Romance
* Directed by David Slade
* Screenplay by Melissa Rosenberg
* Based on the novel “Eclipse” by Stephanie Meyer
* Cast – Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene, Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone and Dakota Fanning.

In The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob – knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.

Brittany Murphy Dead, Replaced by New Moon Actress

December - 21 - 2009 Comments

Brittany Murphy, the perpetually perky and slightly quirky actress who worked her way up from supporting parts to romantic leads after her breakout role in the film “Clueless,” died Sunday in Los Angeles. She was 32.

brittanyrachelle
Before her death, Brittany was reportedly ‘in and out’ of consciousness on set. This alleged behavior was rumored to be the reason she was ‘fired’ from her latest movie, “The Caller.” Although Brittany’s crew denied she was fired, she was replaced by Rachelle LeFevre, the original Victoria from “Twilight” and “New Moon.”

I’ve always been a fan of Brittany, ever since her quirky performance from Clueless…a loss, so sad.

Brittany’s famous friends are also offering their condolences via Twitter.

Donald Faison, Alicia Silverstone and Ashton Kutcher were among the stars who shared their grief after Brittany Murphy's death.

Murphy’s other “Clueless” co-star, Donald Faison, shared the same sentiment.

“Brittany was one of the sweetest people you will ever meet,” he said in a statement. “She had the voice of an angel and a genuine heart of gold. I’m very happy to have known and worked with such a special person. My heart goes out to all of her loved ones.”

Stars flooded Twitter with condolences for the late actress. Most notably, Murphy’s ex-boyfriend and “Just Married” co-star, Ashton Kutcher, expressed his grief.

“2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine,” Kutcher wrote on his Twitter page. “My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany’s family, her husband, & her amazing mother Sharon … See you on the other side kid.”

Among the other celebrities who tweeted their condolences:

Jessica Simpson: “Brittany Murphy was an incredible ray of Light to so many people. Her smile was contagious. My prayers are with her family and loved ones.”

Candace Cameron: “So sad to hear about Brittany Murphey. :( My favorite was her voice in Happy Feet. Many prayers sent out to her family from us.”

Alyssa Milano: “Brittney Murphy and I did a USO Tour together in 2003. ♥ She was a sweet soul, with a lot of talent and heart.”

Kathy Najimy: “so sad this is truly a waste. feeling regret we didnt’ do more. i love you so much Brittany and always will.”

Kim Kardashian: “I am in shock that Britney Murphy has died! Clueless is my all time favorite movie. My prayers go out to her family & husband”

Melissa Joan Hart: “I’m so sad to hear of the passing of a peer of mine! RIP Brittany Murphy! We will miss you and all the talent you shared!”

Soleil Moon Frye: “I am beyond words by the loss of Brittany Murphy. I was so blessed to know your grace. My heart goes out to your mama loved ones.”

Lindsay Lohan: “My deepest condonlences go out to all of Brittany Murphy’s loved ones& may she rest in peace….She was a great talent w/a beautiful soul xo”

Eliza Dushku: “My heart aches having just learned of Brittany Murphy’s death. We were friends time-to-time thru the yrs. I always admired her pure spirit.”

Robert Pattinson #6 Man of the Year

December - 16 - 2009 Comments

From MTV News: Which stars had the biggest year? All this week, we’ll be unveiling our top nine men and women of 2009, counting down to the #1 man and woman on Friday. Well, here’s a sneak peak at lucky #6….Robert Pattinson!

In 2009, all eyes were on RPattz. Despite only releasing one movie, there were few people whose face sold more magazines, whose every word made more of a ripple and whose public appearances caused such a stir. Under such pressure, a lot of 23-year-old actors would end up getting into trouble, indulging to the point of excess and disappointing their fans. But somehow, the uniquely suited-for-stardom Robert Pattinson took it all with a good-natured grin and self-deprecating charm. In “Twilight” and beyond, his future seems so bright that he’ll likely be sparkling for quite some time. d?

2009 Highlights: We all know Rob had a busy 2009, and everybody had their own thoughts on what he should do after “Twilight.” Few saw his first move coming, however, as he dropped out of the indie flick “Parts Per Billion,” leaving producer/star Rosario Dawson sad but promising the show would go on. In February, he showed up at the Oscars and stole attention away from stars as big as Brad and Angelina. Despite expressing fears that he might become “Twilighted out” while shooting “New Moon” and “Eclipse” back-to-back, he nevertheless got back to work as Edward Cullen.

Peter Facinelli Votes for TWO Breaking Dawns

December - 16 - 2009 Comments

Somehow it seems unsurprising that Peter Facinelli, who got a total reboot of his career with “The Twilight Saga,” would like “Breaking Dawn” to make it to the big screen. When MTV News spoke to Peter at Z100’s Jingle Ball Friday, he shared a full wish-list of things he would like in regards to the fourth (and, according to him, fifth) installments of the series.

First and foremost, Pete would like to see this novel split into two films. “I would love to have them break it into two parts because it’s such a thick book,” he said. “I think that’d be fantastic to split into two, ’cause there’s so much information. Whatever happens, I’m sure it will be good.”

While we have already detailed why we don’t think two movies would be such a good idea for the fluff-filled novel, we do agree with Peter’s director choice (as does Kristen Stewart). “I’d love to seeChris Weitz back,” he said.

He added as to whether there’s actually a chance Chris would agree, “I don’t know. I mean, I know he actually has another film he’s doing right now, so your guess is as good as mine. I’m sure they’ll get somebody very capable. I mean, we’ve had some pretty fantastic directors so far.”

Two films and Chris as director complete a “Breaking Dawn” checklist most fans would agree with, and the scene Peter most looks forwards to shooting is another fan favorite. “You know, there’s this scene where Bella has the baby,” Peter said, jokingly adding, “Like any other doctor, I’m not there at the time. I think I’m on the ninth playing a round of golf, but it’s an interesting scene. I’d like to see how that’s shot.”

Unfortunately, this is only speculation and wishful thinking thus far, as Peter said he hasn’t heard any “Breaking Dawn” news from Summit. “Usually the fans know before me. I’ve been combing the Web sites to see if we’re doing a fourth movie,” Peter said. “I haven’t heard or seen [a script yet]. I think everybody’s just kind of still on the ‘New Moon’ high.”

Anna Kendrick + Golden Globes Nomination = Awesome

December - 15 - 2009 Comments

Anna Kendrick last week in Hollywood

This has been quite a year for actress Anna Kendrick. Not only has the 24 year-old starred in the highest grossing movie of the year (which also broke a few box office records as well), New Moon, but she is also in what could possibly be the best movie of the year, Up in the Air. The icing on the cake? Her role in Up In the Air earned Kendrick her first Golden Globe nomination this morning!

Kendrick, who plays Jessica in the Twilight Saga, takes on an adult role in Air. Her character, Natalie, is a young up-and-comer who travels with George Clooney as he attempts to show her the value of his way of doing business (she prefers to do some hard work over the internet, like firing people over a video conference). She earned rave reviews for her performance and it looks like they were well deserved.

Next up for Kendrick is the release of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, also starring Michael Cera, Brandon Routh, and Jason Schwartzman. And of course you can’t forget the next installment of The Twilight Saga.Eclipse will be in theaters on June 30, 2010.

New Moon Lights the Way for Ashley Greene

December - 14 - 2009 Comments

USAToday posted a great article about Ashely Greene.  Looks like there is life outside of Twilight!

greenex-topper-mediumNew Moon star Ashley Greene is still getting a grip on her rise to fame — but with a full slate of upcoming projects, she’s making sure her career extends beyond vampires and werewolves.

“Instantly we have this fan base, instantly we have these careers and people know who we are,” says the actress, 22, who likened the rush to “instant happiness. … People now actually care about what projects I’m in.”

Greene was 17 when she moved to Los Angeles from Florida after graduating high school a semester early, and now, after being cast as prescient vampire Alice Cullen in the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s vampire romance series, Greene’s visibility has skyrocketed. In addition to the release of Twilight: Eclipse June 30, Greene has two additional wrapped films under her belt.

Just like the first two Twilight movies, Eclipse has a different director, David Slade, who Greene says is “definitely different from Catherine (Hardwicke) and Chris (Weitz). He is technically the most specific director that I’ve ever worked with.” Greene says fans of the franchise should expect Slade to “bring a darker element to this film. He seems to kind of specialize in that.”

That darker side includes Alice as well. “In (Twilight), you see that quality about Alice that makes her so lovable is she’s so positive and upbeat. In (New Moon), you see how she takes these uncomfortable situations and she’s sassy and she brings light to a dark scene,” Greene says. “In (Eclipse), you get to see a little bit of a darker side when her family is in danger. You get to see once again that she is an animal and she’s not human.”

As for adding non-vampire films to her résumé, Greene will be at Sundance in January for the premiere ofSkateland. “The fact that we’re going to Sundance is a validity factor for an actor doing something you’re passionate about.”

In Skateland, Greene stars as Michelle Birkam, a girl-next-door type who befriends a cool kid with a job at the local skate rink. It’s set in the 1980s, so “I look just like my mother,” she says. “It’s crazy!”

Greene, who filmed Skateland in between Twilight and New Moon, also has wrapped Warrior, now in post-production, which stars Twilight buddy Kellan Lutz. “I got done with Twilight and went independent-crazy,” Greene says.

Indies aside, she just landed the lead in The Apparition, a big-budget Warner Bros. thriller being produced byThe Matrix’s Joel Silver.

“To be the lead in my own box-office film is just another step,” Greene says. “A couple of days before, I probably won’t be able to sleep, but I’m not even nervous about it now. … I’m just like one of those giddy girls who wants to make sure everything is perfect for the first day of school. I’ve already planned a week (before filming begins in Berlin) to turn off my cellphone and just focus.” And with even more screen time in New Moon, which has grossed more than $267.4 million to date, she’s familiar with the craze that comes with being in a box-office sensation.

“It’s so strange, because we spend months on set, and then it’s like, by the way, this is what’s been brewing while we’ve been working,” she says, referring to Twilight’s fearlessly devoted fan base.

“I’ve gotten asked by people to get a lock of Rob’s hair,” she says of co-star Robert Pattinson, who drives teens and older women alike wild as vampire Edward Cullen. “I’ve even had girls come up to me and ask to smell my hair.

“I’ve gotten proposals, and I always wonder, what would (people) do if I said yes?”

Taylor Launter Parties after SNL

December - 14 - 2009 Comments

After giving Kanye West a piece of his mind and spoofing his famous abs during his hosting stint on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend, “New Moon” star Taylor Lautner still had a little energy left in him to enjoy the “SNL” afterparty.

Taylor Lautner Parties For SNL
The 17-year-old actor, along with the night’s musical guest Jon Bon Jovi, hung with the cast of the show at New York hotspot Matsuri. While chilling out with “SNL” stars Andy Samberg and Seth Meyers, Lautner dined on a sirloin steak, according to MTV News sources.

Taylor Swift, Lautner’s rumored girlfriend, was not at the party, despite the fact that she was in town the night before to perform at Z100’s Jingle Ball. Lautner reportedly left the shindig at around 4 a.m., surrounded by bodyguards, while fans waited outside the restaurant to catch a glimpse of the star.

Lautner was the first Twilighter to host the famed comedy show. And when he wasn’t taking a good-natured jab at the Swift romance rumors (much like she did when she hosted the show last month), he was joking about “Twilight” fans and the fact that he is shirtless during much of “New Moon.”

“I took my shirt off a lot — too much, in fact,” Lautner said in his monologue. “Even Matthew McConaughey told me to cool it.”

Eclipse is going to be Balanced

December - 13 - 2009 Comments

Ace Showbiz shared some great insight on what we can expect from Eclipse.

eclipseposterIt has been believed that “The Twilight Saga’s Eclipse” is going to be an action-oriented movie. Recently, David Slade posted several updates on his Twitter page, claiming the focus of the film is still the love triangle between Edward Cullen, Bella Swan, and Jacob Black, which is matched with action sequences.

“Edward seems to be a really strong presence, the intensity of the love story & rivalry between Jacob is in the driving seat,” Slade tweeted on Friday, December 11. Few minutes later, he added, “Jacob & Bella are matching with intensity, & it’s all even with the action sequences. Right now we are in a great state of balance.”

Beside explaining the focus of “Eclipse”, the helmer also shared about the progress of the movie, mentioning that the post-production team was working on reviewing the wolves and they are “looking better & better.” Moreover, Slade revealed they were close to get a composer for the film, which he claimed to have “a much more realistic approach.”

As of late, Summit Entertainment has announced that “The TwilightSaga’s Eclipse” will get IMAX treatment. “['Eclipse' will feature] the enhanced image and sound quality of the IMAX Experience, putting them in the movie,” Summit’s president of domestic theatrical distribution Richie Fay stated.

In the third “Twilight” film, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner, will all return to reprise their roles as Edward, Bella, and Jacob respectively. The upcoming movie is scheduled to be released both on IMAX screens and in traditional movie theaters across the U.S. on June 30, 2010.

Michael Sheen is Aro

December - 13 - 2009 Comments

I was very interested in seeing what the Volutri looked like in New Moon, I imagined them in a very specific way. And, to be honest, was rather disappointed when I first saw the casting. HOWEVER, when I saw Michael Sheen as Aro, I was surprised how much I did like him. It was a nice balance of humor and ferocity….he kind of was like a vampiric Napolean.

vamp-sheenx-large

If Michael Sheen isn’t doing something biographical, chances are it’s supernatural.
He has left his mark on the horror genre as Lucian, the leader of the werewolf rebellion against the aristocratic vampires in the Underworld trilogy.
But now he’s switching teams as Aro, the head of the Italian vampire cult known as the Volturi in New Moon, the latest big-screen chapter of the Twilight.
“I wanted to see how the other half lived,” Sheen explains with a grin. “Or unlived.”

Actually, Lily, his 10-year-old daughter with Underworld actress Kate Beckinsale, had something to do with his decision. “She is very, very into the books. I know how obsessive she was about them, so I was already predisposed wanting to be in it.”

After he read the first two books himself, Sheen realized why the literary phenom causes teen girls to swoon. “What it has tapped into, at least in the first book, is how it feels to fall in love for the first time. I don’t think you have to be a girl to relate to that.

“The second book captures the utter desolation of losing that first love. I went through that myself, and Stephenie Meyer invokes that brilliantly.”

So what kind of vamp is Aro? “I suppose the Volturi are like the royal family of vampires, and while he is more their spokesperson in the books, he is their leader in the film. He’s got a sort of regality about him.

“I like the way director Chris Weitz describes him. On the surface, he is very charming and very warm, sort of likable and soft. But underneath, you get the sense he is a psychopathic killer. I love playing with that idea.”
